Mary Bockover has been a professor in the Philosphy Department at Humboldt State University for over twenty years. As an ally to the LGBTQ community, and a past member of the vestry at St. Alban's Episcopal church, she has worked to bridge the gap between both communities. She played a big role in the process to make the St. Alban's church openly welcoming to the LGBTQ community, and has also used these experiences to influence her work at HSU. Professor Bockover discusses many issues within both the religious and LGBTQ community with a genuine knowledge of intersectional feminism and queer theory. With her insights into both HSU and the Humboldt community, Prof. Bockover contributes to an insightful and in depth conversation about Queer Religion @ HSU.

This page is in no way fully representative of people who identify as queer and relgious at HSU. These are the people who responded to our bulletins and the ones who felt comfortable discussing these parts of their identity. We want to make sure that it is understood by any viewer of this page that many other people exist within these communities, and this is only a brief glance at a small group in Humboldt county. We hope that this exhibit provides at least some sort of insight into a community that often is made invisible through an adeventure through other people's experiences.
